Operation Watchcap exists for one simple purpose: to place a handmade watch cap into the hands of a U.S. military veteran as an act of respect, gratitude, and encouragement for their service.
Here’s how it works:
1. Yarn Is Donated or Purchased
Supporters contribute financially or donate materials to support our community volunteer efforts. These resources are used to purchase quality yarn and supplies needed to produce durable, comfortable handmade watch caps.
2. Volunteers Handcraft Each Cap
Every watch cap is handmade by volunteers — individuals, families, and community members who dedicate their time and skill to serve veterans. Each cap represents care, patience, and intentional craftsmanship.
3. Caps Are Collected and Prepared
Completed caps are inspected, tagged, and packaged for distribution. We maintain quality standards to ensure each veteran receives a cap we would be proud to give to a member of our own family.
4. Caps Are Delivered to Veterans
Caps are distributed through community events, veteran organizations, and direct outreach. Our goal is simple: ensure each cap reaches a veteran who will wear it, use it, and know that someone remembers their service.
5. Stewardship of Donations
Donations support:
• Yarn and materials
• Packaging and distribution
• Volunteer coordination
• Essential operational expenses
Our mission is service-first. Every dollar is stewarded with care, ensuring that our efforts are directed towards making a meaningful impact in support for veterans.
